Vintage 1963 Fender Precision Bass Fiesta Red Refin

Up for sale, an incredible pre-CBS (L Series) 1963 P-Bass in a stunning Fiesta Red, refinished by Fiesta Finishes (body only) which is one of the finest at re-creating original Fender nitro custom colors.

(5 OCT 63 C stamped on the neck – L12XXX, Pots dated 29th week of ’63, pickups are black bottom appears to be all original). A truly early ’60s L-Series. It comes with its original blonde tolex hard case (which is in good condition for its age and functional), both bridge and pickups covers are originals. Thumb rest was missing so the one installed is a vintage reproduction. The nitrocellulose tortoise shell pickguard is original is in great condition with a vivid and texturized pattern that you can only find on the pre-CBS era instruments without any cracks.

The neck is amazing, everything is original except for a pro refret made by one of the best guitar luthier in town. Typical flamed Maple with a beautiful dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard and clay dots, reverse tuners and spaghetti logo, super smooth and typical 1,73″ nut width and .81” neck thickness at 1st fret (medium towards slim). When we got the instrument we noticed the original frets were completely worn, and because this instrument is clearly not meant to be at a museum, rather to be played, we decided to refret with the best guy in town, using the same vintage period correct frets. You’ll appreciate and love it, it feels like you playing a brand new instrument back in 1963  but with all the modjo and patina from its nearly 60 years. The bone nut is still original. It really plays amazing throughout the whole fretboard, obviously without any possible fret issues whatsoever. The neck is perfectly straight with truss rod fully functional.  It’s strung with a fresh set of D’addario Chromes flatwotunds, it plays beautifully all across the neck.
